Skiing in South Tyrol
Skiing in South Tyrol is possible in every valley, as here the various ski zones are open from the end of November till the first half of April. Skiing in South Tyrol is possible in two important ski zones: the "Ortler Skiarena" in the West and the "Dolomiti Superski" in the East. The valleys of South Tyrol belong to one or the other ski zone, such as Val Venosta (German: Vinschgau), Merano (German: Meran, Ladin Maran), Valle Isarco (German: Eisacktal), Val Gardena (German: Grödental, Ladin Gherdeina), Val Badia (German: Abtei) and so on. Skiing in South Tyrol means also being a spectator to many important Ski World Cup competitions taking place mostly in December, such as the Gran Risa in Alta Badia or the ski races in Santa Cristina, in Val Gardena.
